African Poetry

Hello Year 5

We have been having a great time learning about the culture, history, music and climate of Johannesburg and South Africa this term. Today I would like you to combine all this knowledge with your descriptive skills to write a poem about South Africa. Remember to use: similes, metaphors, personification, onomatopoeia and extended noun phrases to create clear images in your writing.

I am really looking forward to reading your poems.

Good luck,

Miss Cartwright

Den Day

Hi Year 5

A couple of weeks ago we had an exciting day going down to the outdoor garden and creating a Den to raise money for Save The Children. We created a fantastic Den and I saw some really good examples of teamwork.

I would like you to write a recount of the day to tell me what happened, remember to include the features of recount texts and to include your writing targets. I would like to know your thoughts and feelings as well throughout the day.

I’m looking forward to reading your comments.
